Job Description:
As a Community Content Creator, your objective is to create and manage content that enhances Payscale’s online community presence across digital channels. You are part content writer, part engagement facilitator, and possess keen acumen for modern strategies and impact reporting.
The Community Content Creator will be a thoughtful content producer that will engage our target audience with the Payscale brand, and it’s thought leaders, by writing short form assets, distilling data insights, sharing research-based resources, and engaging in community discussions across brand and thought leader profiles. You will partner with our thought leadership bench to facilitate their platform and audience engagement strategies. The work you lead will support top-of-funnel awareness and drive customer engagement.
Working in partnership with colleagues, your role will be focused on:
  • Developing short-form content like infographics, practitioner guides, e-books, and video/audio segments to be used across channels and campaigns, as well as taking cornerstone content like original research reports to build relevant derivative content.
  • Implementing strategies to build and maintain thriving online community engagement powered by our brand, subject matter experts, workforce, partners and, most critically, customers – ensuring content is relevant by infusing the voices of our customers and their experiences.
In this position, you will work closely with functional leaders to ensure content value and engagement. Your ability to collaborate and proactively communicate as part of a remote-first work environment is key. Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Ability to develop unique content around compensation practices in the form of blog posts, ebooks and articles, data visualizations, social media posts, and/or video content.
  • Skills in subject matter expert interviews to source insights for content creation.
  • Strategic partnership with growth marketing to successfully execute integrated campaigns and demand generation programs.
  • Experience managing timely deliverables.
  • Ability working as a part of a team and contributing to shared success and impact, including strong experience partnering with colleagues in design and editorial quality assurance.
  • Courteous and direct written and verbal internal communication.
  • Comfort with changing work rhythms (sometimes fast, sometimes slow) and the ability to proactively utilize capacity when priorities change.
  • Interest in our industry through self-directed reading, discussions, and interviews with customers.
We would like this person to be able to develop and achieve a consistent production cadence. You will measure success through efficient delivery speed, limited rounds of revisions, classification of content within reporting pillars and campaigns, as well as making a positive impact on the Marketing programs that achieve success through quality content. You will enjoy this role if you have a desire to create content, as well as manage and optimize work processes.
Working as part of the Marketing team, this role will support the organization by contributing to thought leadership programs, supporting operational production, and creating content that aligns with our mission. The Payscale Marketing Team is made up of three major functions: Corporate Marketing, Growth Marketing, and Product Marketing. This position is a part of the Corporate Marketing team, which includes the functions brand, communications, content, design, advocacy, and events.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop unique content around compensation practices in the form of blog posts, ebooks and articles, data visualizations, social media posts, and/or video content.
  • Interviewing subject matter experts to define and develop insights that can be repurposed into multiple content modalities.
  • Establish systematic programs to align digital community management with thought leadership pillars, product vision, and corporate initiatives.

    Partner with growth marketing to contribute to integrated campaign execution and demand generation programs.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain a publication calendar for content deliverables and community engagement, ensuring timely delivery and cross-functional alignment.
  • Create net new, repackaged, and repurposed content in a variety of formats and modalities to engage relevant audiences across LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, Compensation Today, and Payscale Connect.
  • Innovate and propose new approaches to bring the stories of our customers and data-insights through in our content to meaningfully engage future customers.
  • Lead and facilitate conversations and interactions within digital communities, encouraging and capitalizing on user generated content.
  • Interview subject matter experts and conduct desk research to gather information, perspectives, and insights that will equip you to be effective and knowledgeable in your role.
  • Track digital community metrics and analyze engagement data to measure the success of community initiatives and organic campaigns. Set goals and KPIs to monitor growth.
  • Provide trends, feedback, and thematic insights back to the marketing team based on community interactions.
  • Partner with communication leaders to proactively and reactively manage sensitive or negative communications effectively to maintain Payscale reputational strength.
  • Budget and vendor management experience across services and technology.
  • Work as a part of a team through proactive communication and collaborative partnerships.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in writing, journalism, English, literature, humanities, marketing, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in market-facing content development and project coordination. B2B SaaS Technology and/or HR Tech experience a plus!
  • Ability to create content for concurrent projects as needed within established timelines.
  • Knowledge of AP style and experience adhering to editorial and brand guidelines.
  • Experience with Canva, Figma, or other self-service design tools.
  • Experience tracking KPIs to monitor impact and drive program growth.
  • Experience managing program budgets and third-party vendors.
  • Experience with Asana or similar project management software, a plus.
  • Experience with Assembly or auto-engagement management platforms, a plus.
  • Highly collaborative and resilient bias for action, with a coachable ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguity by partnering with peers to develop creative solutions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 2x/year.

Additional:

Compensation 

For roles with compensation ranges: 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $64,500 – $96,700, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 10%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
